Giacoletti Music Center is one of the oldest businesses in the downtown Carlsbad area. The business started as a music school and small store on State Street in 1978. Eleanor Giacoletti and one other teacher offered the Yamaha Music Program and taught piano. At that time, Giacoletti Music carried only sheet music, guitars and few other items.

With the efforts of Bob Giacoletti in 1981, the business outgrew its original location. By 1982, Giacoletti Music had moved to its present location at 505 Carlsbad Village Drive (Elm Avenue) specializing in music education, pianos, sheet music and teaching supplies.

In 1983, Roy Good was hired to expand and manage the retail side of the business. By 1987 guitars became the focus of the store and pianos were no longer sold.

In 1995 the school transitioned from the Yamaha Music Program to Music for Young Children, a program for children from preschool to fourth grade. All the while, business kept growing and eventually grew to now include a full-service music store, two group education studios, and seven individual studios for private instruction.

Bob and Eleanor's daughter, Beth Teichmann, joined the company in 1998 and has assumed the role of School Coordinator. Currently, there are five employees in the store, and fourteen teachers in the school, which has an enrollment of over 500 students. The store now is one of the largest sellers of sheet music in North San Diego County, and has one of the largest collections of ukuleles in the continental United States. Even though the business has grown over the years, it is still family owned and operated, and the focus is still on personal service.
